Unscathed

This poem was written for my hubby in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. We had been through so much, yet we stood together never losing focus on what was meant to be.

Unscathed

Silken words of love escape mouths of lovers
Soul mates
Best Friends...Is the titles they've bestowed upon one another
A simple, yet Intense kind of lovin'
Years of sharing their deepest secrets
holding each others fears within their memory vault
Caressing egos
Nourishing dreams
Pampering tempers
they've been through it all
Walked gently across broken bridges
created by harsh and hateful words
Only to have feather covered pavement
to break their fall
Protected by True Love
Never realizing how deep emotions can truly go
when the heart is stuck in Forever mode
Wanting
Yearning
Living each day just to see the face of the one person
who knows how to make your soul smile
The one who gives you their energy when you need to
go that extra mile
How can anyone ever think they'd be successful in destroying
TRUE LOVE?
It's Impossible
When we've sat on the front line of battle
Faced destruction eye to eye
Only to walk away unscathed
Never phased by naysayers
because WE are meant to be
I'm loving him unconditionally and
he's loving me soul deep
Silken words of love escape mouths of lovers
Soul mates
Best Friends...Is the titles they've bestowed upon one another
A simple, yet Intense kind of lovin'
In each others presence we bathe
Indestructible love we possess
Through all of our battles we walk away...Unscathed
